Open Cajun jam! 1st & 3rd Saturdays is back again! This year we'll have a free fiddle, guitar or accordion lesson before the jam.
FREE CAJUN MUSIC LESSONS OFFERED BY TWIN CITIES’ CAJUN MUSICIANS
A free 45 minute Cajun music lesson in one-row button (Cajun) accordion, fiddle or
guitar will precede the bimonthly Cajun acoustic music jams at Betsy’s Back Porch
Coffee. Teaching will be some of the Twin Cities’ finest musicians from local Cajun
bands: Kevin Anthony (fiddle) of the Twin City Playboys; Eric Mohring (fiddle), Bob
Nelson (accordion) and Karen Kleinspehn (guitar) of the New Riverside Ramblers; Kurt
Olson (accordion) of the Cajun Hot Soles; Gary Powell (accordion) of the Faux
Playboys & Bayou Grenouille; John Tallaksen (beginning accordion) of Black Bear
Bayou.
Lessons & jams take place the 1st & 3rd Saturday of every month, starting this year on
September 6. The lesson begins at 9:45 until 10:30 AM; the jam will then continue until
1 PM. Location is Betsy’s Back Porch Coffee, 5447 Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis.
Unless otherwise stated, individuals attending lessons need some experience with their
instrument, although familiarity with Cajun music is not required.
